Four Variations: Recitation, Constellation, Silence, and Shadow

The performance is an extended series of Maneuver in Place made in 2022, featuring four performers' four variations using light and recitation. The work is an attempt to sense the gap created by the distance between language and reality in the most silence. Here, the silence does not only mean the state of sound but also the calmness of the mind. The part Recitation refers to the state of dementia, being confused with similar things, and the Constellation explores the ways children learn to speak. It focuses on the similarities of mortal beings, and the arbitrariness of the borns. In Silence and Shadow, shadows extend from objects in various ways similar to huge pieces of glacier connecting below the surface. The performance also questions the vision and blind spot using light as the most important material. Vision can’t function without blind spots. Paradoxically, seeing is impossible without it. Language can also exist because of the gap between reality and language. The work faces the fundamental condition of life that fades away and vibrates amidst the gap, crack, blind spot, and empty spaces, at the same time.
